“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not die but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to be its judge, but to be its Savior.” (John 3:16-17)
For the Christian, Jesus Christ is the cornerstone of our faith. (Ephesians 2:20) All the stones that build our Christian foundation are built upon Jesus.
Jesus is the visible likeness of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15); the Word of God. The Word became a human being, full of grace and truth, and lived among us.
Jesus is God! It was God, the Son, who came down to earth and reconciled man to Himself by taking the sins is all mankind upon Himself at the cross, dying, rising from death, and giving man His righteousness in return, forever justifying us in God’s eyes.
The Bible makes it perfectly clear that Jesus claimed to be the “I AM” of the Old Testament, fulfilling prophesy. The Gospel of John contains seven “I Am” statements about who Jesus is:
- “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never be hungry; he who believes in me will never thirst.” (John 6:35)
- “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will have the light of life and will never walk in darkness.” (John 8:12)
- “I am the gate. Whoever comes in by me will be saved; he will come in and go out and find pasture.” (John 10:9)
- “I am the good shepherd, who is willing to die for His sheep.” (John 10:11)
- “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die.” (Romans 11:25)
- “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one goes to the Father except by me. (John 14:6)
- “I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever remains I me, and I in him, will bear much fruit; for you can do nothing without me.” (John 15:5)
Not only did Jesus die for us, but He is coming again to take us personally to heaven with Him!
"Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself; that where I am, there you may be also." (John 14: 1-2)
Our hope in the present and for the future, as Christians, is in Jesus!
