2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.
God wants you to come to Him in prayer with confidence, however He is expecting you to find out what His will is when you pray. Some have insisted He answer their prayers on the basis of their faith, but end up receiving leanness to their soul, see Psalm 106:13-15.
This is a diminished capacity of awareness. God wants His power and love to flow through you on a continual basis, which will produce a sound mind. You will be able to maintain this in direct proportion to how much time you spend reading your Bible.
The thoughts of the world will drive out ideas from God’s Word, which can cause you to stop depending on the Lord. When that takes place you start to lose His protection, which can cause you to lose the power of the Holy Spirit, as well as a sound mind.
